TMG Petits Farcis Provençaux

Samedi matin, well....Saturday morning we  went to our local Farmer's market and we visited our favorite vendors. Paradise Farm had an interesting looking zucchini.
I knew immediately what to prepare! I dug out my recipes from when I studied in Aix-en-Provence.
Oh you can't read French? Food Network has an approximation here.

I substituted ground veal for the sausage and made up for it by spicing abundantly.

Ready for plating!

TFC Christmas Squab

TMG domino sugar pecan cookie

This used up the last of my 1001 cookie mix that I prepared for the Christmas season. I substituted Greek yogurt for the cream cheese.
All they need is a dusting of confectioner's sugar.

Lentils for prosperity in the New Year

Italian remedy: add bay leaf to your soups and stews to aid digestion. We often drink homemade bay leaf tincture with sugar to help tummy ailments. These  leaves are from my cousins' land in Cefalù, Sicily.

Helpful hint: always pick through your lentils because you never know what you'll find in your bag. Tonight's bag was the most contaminated with foreign objects that I've ever opened in my life.
Sweat mirepoix in fat. Deglaze. Add cleaned lentils and water or stock. Simmer an hour or so. Season and add liquid if necessary as it cooks.

Finish with olive oil.

TFC bumped them up with roasted chestnuts and cream.
